Proposal to Change the Policy for Transcript-Recognized Certificate Programs in the Undergraduate Catalog to Include the Texas Extended Campus as Approved by the Educational Policy Committee (D 15068-15072).

Distributed through the Faculty Council Wiki site on April 7, 2017, and classified as general legislation. The proposal was presented to the Faculty Council at its meeting on April 10, 2017. On May 1, 2017, the Faculty Council unanimously approved the legislation by voice vote. On May 2, 2017, it was transmitted to the Executive Vice President and Provost Maurie McInnis for review and recommendations to the President. On May 8, 2017, Provost McInnis transmitted her recommendation for approval to President Gregory L. Fenves. On May 17, 2017, Provost McInnis recalled the May 8th letter indicating that there were a number of procedural and logistical issues that would need to be resolved before Texas Extended Campus is prepared to offer certificates. Provost McInnis added a disclaimer to clarify that Texas Extended Campus (TEC) students should refer to the TEC/University Extension website rather than the catalog for information about specific programs available through TEC. On March 7, 2018, the legislation was transmitted to President Fenves recommending approval and on March 22, 2018, he granted final approval.

Proposed Change to the General Information Catalog, Appendix C, Section 11 on Student Discipline and Conduct and to the Faculty Disposition Form as Approved by the Educational Policy Committee (D 15389-15391).

On March 22, 2018, Provost McInnis disapproved the legislation because of concerns raised by Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Soncia Reagins-Lilly. Provost McInnis recommended that the Faculty Council leadership consult with Dr. Lilly and the Office of the Dean of Students to initiate a dialogue on the matters at hand.
